3rd of 10 Ways to Help Remedy Anxiety

Let’s Remember: Anxiety is a ball of various emotions. Name those emotions and count them out! Don’t just say I’m anxious. Say I’m nervous, I’m scared, I’m worried, I’m angry, and always focus on why.

3. Please. Please. Please! Consider Quitting Smoking Cigarettes

To my smokers! You are always popping outside to grab a smoke for stressful situations or you have developed a habit where smoking is just a familiarity (meaning you are smoking because it is now part of a unconscious routine). This falls in line with drinking and drugs as well as you are using this form of “drug” as a quick fix that will increase/make your anxiety worse. Do we need to add that cigarettes, drinking, and drug-use have no wonderful health benefits. They do more harm than help.

Don’t believe me? Here, read this: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11920-020-01160-5 (The Role of Anxiety in Smoking Onset, Severity, and Cessation-Related Outcomes: a Review of Recent Literature)

How do you quit, you ask? Sit and think about the times of days you smoke (Doesn’t matter if it’s a lot or a little). Then, write down a list of things you can do in place of smoking that will be more effective and productive for that time of day. Prayer, writing, going for a walk, listening to a sermon or podcast, or call a trusted friend, just to name a few.

Psalms 37:5 - Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
